The Midwife
LICENSED MIDWIFE, CRANIOSACRAL THERAPIST, CLINICAL HERBALIST, FOUNDER (SHE/ HER)
Christian Toscano, LM, CPM, CST
I have been attending births since 2010 and have supported more than a thousand families through home, birth center, and hospital births. My experience includes unmedicated and medicated births, fertility care, gynecology, and sexual health care.
I graduated from Birthwise Midwifery School and trained at a reproductive health clinic providing abortion care, gynecology, pregnancy support, and fertility counseling. I am certified in CPR, NRP, and BLS and have additional training in Spinning Babies, optimal fetal positioning, and body balancing techniques.
My work is deeply rooted in traditional healing and herbal medicine. I studied at the Northeast School of Botanical Medicine and assisted the clinical herbalist director at a free community health clinic. I am also certified in Craniosacral Therapy through the Life Energy Institute and the Upledger Institute.
I am currently pursuing a master's degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine with the goal of becoming a Licensed Acupuncturist. My continued education allows me to bring together midwifery, herbal medicine, bodywork, acupuncture, and other traditional approaches to support the whole person.
I am queer and committed to providing affirming, inclusive care for LGBTQ+ people, including queer and transgender families and people of all gender identities and expressions.
My personal path has also included study and experiences with traditional healing practices in different cultural settings. I have participated in sweat lodge ceremonies with elders whose teachings and visions are approved by Abenaki, Muskogee, Creek, and Iroquois nations. I studied tantra meditation and Sanskrit in India with Dr. Vagish Shastri and have participated in Colombian dieta practices with plant medicine.
These experiences have shaped my understanding of healing as something that encompasses the body, mind, spirit, relationships, and connection to community.
I am devoted to healing, lifelong learning, and creating a space where you can feel respected, informed, empowered, and deeply supported in your care.
PHILOSOPHY
I am guided by my connection to the divine spirit through body practices, prayer, sweat and plant ceremony. My approach is to balance the body holistically so one can flourish through physical and spiritual alignment. I provide tools for connecting to one’s inner wisdom, radical self care, body sovereignty, and pleasure-centered care. I believe healing ourselves is a radical act for our communities and genetic lineages. I am an excellent experienced clinician, utilizing medical intervention when necessary, while respecting healing as a normal physiologic life event. I promote people to operate from their power, demystify healthcare and reconnect to their ancient wisdom.
