christian Toscano, LM CPM CST
founder

Christian (she/her) is a queer California Medical Board Licensed Midwife (LM), Certified Professional Midwife (CPM), Craniosacral Therapist (CST) and Clinical Herbalist. Since 2010 she has attended hundreds of births at home, birth center and hospital; many of which were "VBAC's" and water births. She graduated from Birthwise Midwifery School, a MEAC accredited 3-year program. She worked at a reproductive health clinic providing abortion services, gynecology, pregnancy support and fertility counseling. She trained with Spinning Babies in optimal fetal positioning and body balancing techniques. She studied at the Northeast School of Botanical Medicine and assisted the Clinical Herbalist Director at a free community health clinic. She is certified in Cranioscaral therapy from the Life Energy Institute. She offers full spectrum midwifery care for the reproductive and menopausal years. Her work is gender affirming, trauma informed and sex positive. She wildcrafts, grows and extracts the botanical medicines offered.

philosophy

I am guided by the divine intelligence of the cosmic mother. I believe in teaching tools for radical self care, body sovereignty, and pleasure-centered care. All people deserve access to individualized care, trauma awareness and support. I believe healing ourselves is a radical act for our communities and genetic lineages. Everyone inherently knows how to intuitively listen to their own body. My goal is to strengthen your ability to listen to your unique wisdom so you can flourish through self-empowerment. I am an excellent experienced clinician, utilizing medical intervention when necessary, while respecting conception, pregnancy and birth as a normal physiologic life event. I promote people to operate from their power, demystify healthcare and reconnect to our ancient wisdom.

Janell Moore (she/her) is a California Medical Board Licensed Midwife (LM) and a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM). She holds a Masters in Public Health (MPH) and has worked in sexual and reproductive health and advocacy for over 15 years. Prior to midwifery training, Janell was a medical assistant in free and low-cost community clinics in San Francisco and Los Angeles where she provided family planning and reproductive health counseling. After earning her masters, Janell dedicated her career to working in HIV research and prevention, specifically among BIPOC and LGBTQI communities. She worked with HIV-positive pregnant and lactating people in Uganda and the DR Congo as well as coordinated HIV research projects in Cambodia and the US. She trained as a doula in 2017 and in 2019 graduated from the MEAC-accredited midwifery program at Maternidad La Luz in El Paso, Texas. She has attended over 100 births between homebirth and birth center practice. She is fluent in Spanish and holds current certification in Neonatal Resuscitation. She practices midwifery with care, competency and professionalism and takes pride in ushering in new life safely and with compassion.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that people should birth, first and foremost, where they feel safe and cared for. I regard birth as a sacred and monumental event that typically requires little to no intervention. I provide families with evidence-based, culturally competent information so that they can make informed decisions for their health and wellbeing from a place of knowledge rather than fear or mis-education. I believe in and practice the midwifery model of care which centers the physical and emotional needs of the birthing person and allows for the normal physiological process of birth to unfold.
Because we respect the wisdom of nature, honor the essential mystery of birth, and value the abiding traditions of midwifery

We vow to preserve the intrinsic wellness of pregnancy and childbirth and will strive to ensure the safety of client and child.

We pledge to recognize, honor and care for the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of the childbearing experience.

We pledge to honor the profession of midwifery by practicing with honesty, respect, humility, justice, and sound ethical action.

We promise to serve without prejudice against their age, race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, physical abilities, or socioeconomic background.

We promise to champion each person's right to shape their unique birthing experience.

We vow to remain devoted to our growth as midwives through constant expansion and enrichment of our knowledge and experience of pregnancy and birth through humble reflection with our peers.

We promise to always recognize the limits of our knowledge and experience and ask for help when exceeded.

We vow to be a teacher to future generations of midwives and parents.

We promise to love and protect the art of midwifery as we would a growing baby.

We make this oath before the universe, our community, and in our heart.
