What is pelvimetry?
Pelvimetry is the measurement of your pelvic shape during a pelvic exam. Every person has one of the four classic pelvic shapes. The external shape of the pelvis does not reflect the internal diameters of the pelvis. Thus, the old expression "child bearing hips" is not an accurate way of accessing if a baby can pass though a pelvis. Pelvimetry encourages body literacy and self empowerment through education of your pelvic shape. By understanding your anatomy you can birth with confidence and learn birth positions best suited to your pelvis shape.
